SHARE SOME CARE
Hospitals are not the most pleasant place to find yourself - is it? It isn't for you, nor is it a pleasant experience for the many persons who need to be admitted to Bedford hospital.
But there is good news!!! You may be surprised to learn that there is a team of caring persons who visit new admissions - chat with them for a few moments, and offer to contact their minister. Being in a hospital environment is a frightening experience for many persons, but a smiling face at their door soon after they are admitted is a welcome kindness.
This group of Hospital Chaplains is in need of several more volunteers to visit these new admissions. Here's how it works - you are assigned an occasional week (Monday-Friday) and sometime each day during that week you come to the hospital, get the list of new admissions, and then visit (don't forget the smiling part!), and then contact the church/minister for the patient. There is a 30-minute training session to help you become acclimated to the hospital and the proper procedure.
All this takes is for you to express a little care and concern for these infirmed persons. It doesn't take a lot of time, nor does it take a lot of effort. But the difference this makes in the life of the person lying in the bed is incalculable. Won't you offer yourself in this vital community ministry?
Here's what you do - call Bedford United Methodist Church, 623-8711, and as soon as the message begins, push 21 which will get you directly to Jan, the church secretary. She will fill you in on what your next step is to be involved in the exciting ministry of Hospital Chaplains.
You will be a blessing to those in need,
and you too will be blessed.
