Ministry Opportunities

Youth Fellowship

Bedford United Methodist Youth (BUMYouth!) meet weekly during the school year on Sunday afternoons from 3:00 - 5:00 in the Youth Room. (third floor of the educational building, the room with all the big couches.)    We also meet during the summer "as announced" for activities.

BUMYouth is for ALL YOUTH IN MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL

A "typical" meeting at BUM Youth includes some time to socialize and fellowship . The atmosphere is casual during this part of the meeting, with youth given the opportunity to just "hang out" with others.   Each week we have discussion/devotion time, games, music, and snacks.  We close our meetings with offering our praises, concerns, and requests to our Lord in prayer.  Each month we are involved in at least one service project.

Our goal is to gather together as Christians for fellowship, study, worship, and service to God in our community, and to support and encourage each other in love as we grow in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  Through the love of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the encouragement of fellow Christian Youth, we strive to grow stronger in our commitment to Christ. We also strive to serve our Lord with a deeper commitment to serve Him in the world. With the encouragement of fellow believers, each week we grow to become people whose lives are committed to being the body of Jesus Christ.

BUMYouth can be reached at bumyouth@bedfordumc.org or 623-8711 ext. 316.

Children's Outreach

The purpose of the Children's Outreach  is to provide needy children in our community with clothing and personal items to give a positive self-image. We assist the children by providing:
  • Personal care items in the Spring. These items are given to local organizations that assist with children and the local school district.
  • Backpacks with school supplies and 1 new outfit for school before the new school year starts. This gives the children a positive self-image and does not single them out from the other children. We give these items out at a back-to-school pizza party.
  • Clothing and a Christmas present at Christmas time. At Christmas time our church works along with the Bedford Ministerium to help many children in our area with Christmas presents, clothing, warm coats, and boots. Our church gives these items out at a Christmas Dinner provided by our church’s kitchen committee.

Meals Ministry

The purpose of the Meals Ministry Team is to provide Christian love and support by preparing and delivering meals for church members and persons who attend worship regularly who are experiencing one of the following:
  • those coming home from a hospital stay
  • those whose family member has had surgery/serious illness
  • those dealing with an extended illness
  • those who have just had a baby.

Mothers Under God's Support

Mothers Under God's Support (M.U.G.S.) is a ministry for all mothers who have children (or are pregnant) birth through kindergarten.  We have a time of light refreshments with Christian fellowship and then continue our evening with a speaker or an activity of interest to mothers of young children.
